2010-10-22: RA Camping

Lucas is officially an RA this year, so of course we had to go to RA camping again (that and Daddy is a Leader). We headed out to the Hartley Pasture again this year with the boys and had a great time. The fire was high, the kids all packed into one tent and then patiently waited for breakfast in the morning. What a great way for them to earn their camping patches again this year.

Apple Butter

This weekend we headed up to West Virginia to take part in a Taksa Family tradition, Apple Butter. It was our first time joining the group for their yearly undertaking but I bet we will be there every year from now on. We had a great time. It was a lot of work, but you nevery really notice. The day starts early with peeling, cleaning and coring and then the rest of the day is sitting around enjoying everyone's company and stirring. Lots of stirring. At the end of the day, there is more apple butter then anyone knows what to do with and a whole lot of memories we will never forget. Thanks again Gus for inviting us to join you... See you next year.

Happy Cow Creamery

Today Lucas, Marialice and I met up with Chris and his boys at the Happy Cow Creamery, a local dairy south of our house. The Dairy was having an open house for it's birthday. The kids loved to see the cows and get some knowledge of how it all happens. Here are a couple of pictures from the day.
